Galro Ltd.
Established in 2003, GALRO Ltd. has its head office at Mill House, Killashee Street, Longford. In 2007, GALRO opened a district office at Portarlington Enterprise Centre. Local woman, Shauna O’Kane manages the service from this office for the Midlands Region.
GALRO (Guardian Ad Litem and Rehabilitation Organisation) specialises in representing the best interests of children, adolescents and adults who have a disability. GALRO access individual rehabilitative needs including basic welfare, education, vocational and inspirational needs. They also provide aftercare support for young people in the care of the HSE. The service aims to assist the young adult in the transition from care in to independent living and seeks to provide practical support and advice on an ongoing basis.
GALRO continuously monitor services provided and observe and assess the client’s needs on a daily basis. GALRO work in close contact with other service providers and at all times work in conjunction with the HSE. GALRO mentors work with clients on a one-to-one basis, seven days a week. The GALRO night steward services runs throughout the night carrying out face-to-face visits and patrol calls to their clients. GALRO currently employ 16 mentors and three night stewards.
